 Language Culture and Mind.
1st Theme sessions call                           
The LCM committee and local organizers call for theme session proposals for the third conference in the series Language, Culture and Mind.
The conference will be held in modern and comfortable conference facilities <http://www.sdu.dk/Om_SDU/Konferencefaciliteter.aspx>  at University of Southern Denmark <http://www.sdu.dk/>  in Odense 14th - 16th July 2008.

The conference aims at establishing an interdisciplinary forum for an integration of cognitive, social and cultural perspectives in theoretical and empirical studies of language and communication

The special theme of the conference is Social Life and Meaning Construction.

We call for contributions from scholars and scientists in anthropology, biology, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, semiotics, semantics, social interaction, discourse analysis, cognitive and neuroscience, who wish both to impart their insights and findings, and learn from other disciplines. Preference will be given to submissions which emphasize interdisciplinarity, the interaction between social life, culture, mind and language, and/or multi-methodological approaches in language and communication sciences.

* Relevance
* Quality
* Coherence
* Originality
* Organization

Once your suggestion is approved, you will need to arrange for Theme Session Contributors for your theme. They will need to submit abstracts for their contributions and as Theme Session Organizer you will be responsible for their review. More than one person may organize a theme.

NOTICE: The LCM reserves the right to reject papers accepted by Theme Session reviewers. However, this right will only be exercised if accepted papers deviate too far from the goals of LCM with respect to their content and/or quality.

Sixth Annual Conversation Analysis Advanced Study Institute, or CA ASI 2006.
Los Angeles, USA 12th-19th July 2006

The International Forum ⌠On Required Features of Civilization of the Future is held during 2007.  It is devoted to Academician Nikita N. Moisejev: http://www.mnepu.ru/go.php?n=443 . Since 2007 is the Year of Russian language its aim is to analyze & discuss the Maintenance of Humans in Physical & Technological Environments with a Focus on Russian history, culture & language as both the heritage and offering to the Future World Civilization.

Russian RC ⌠Language & Society: Sociolinguistics╩ of RSS takes part in the Final Conference of the Forum (November of 2007) in Moscow.  Two events are on the Program:
The Session:  Social and Natural Sciences in Informational Society.

The Chair:  Vladimir I. Gerasimov, INION RAN. The following items are suggested for discussions:

     2.    The Role of Social and Natural Sciences in a Modern Society.

Western States Communication Association (WSCA)
2008 Annual Convention, Denver/Boulder, Colorado
February 15-19, 2008
 
The Language and Social Interaction (LSI) interest group of WSCA invites papers and proposals for panels for the upcoming 2008 annual conference. As an interest group, LSI invites a broad range of studies of language, discourse, and interaction, in a range of contexts. Appropriate contexts include, but should not be limited to: face-to-face interaction, telephone conversations, group discussions, media discourse, public deliberation, and computer-mediated interaction.
 
Submissions are due: September 1, 2007
Submissions should be submitted electronically to: jgood@ucla.edu
 
Individual competitive papers, panels, and workshops are all invited.
 
The theme of this year’s conference is: “Engaging Through Service.” The theme of this year’s convention is designed to focus our attention on the ways we serve others and to facilitate our developing new ways to help make the world a better place. As an organization, LSI supports this notion and encourages individual, panel, and workshop submissions that address this theme.
 
Submitted papers should include:

(a)   A detachable title page with the title of the paper, names of all authors and their addresses, phones numbers, email addresses, and affiliations. This information should be included for each author and should be double-checked for accuracy.

(b)  Indication if the paper is a Student Paper or a Student Debut Paper.

(c)   A list of equipment needed for presentation.

(d)  A 250-500 word abstract of the paper (with title appearing on this page.)

(e)   A maximum of 25 pages of text (not including references.)

(f)   No information in the paper that identifies the author(s) (beyond which appears on the title page.)
