| My current
research interests are primarily informed by ethnomethodology, conversation
analysis and associated ethnographic approaches. At present, a major
theoretical concern is that in relating the analysis of interactional
process to the ethnographic understanding of the overal work setting.
I am studying controll rooms of the medical emergency service in Italy.
In my analysis I aim to relate communication problems in emergency
calls with overall changes in the structure of the emergency service.
I have been working extensively over the years on the topic of
social construction of identity in relation to gender, age and ethnicity.
In particular I looked at identity production processes in relation
to institutional contexts, that is, how identity projection changed
in relation to a specific institutional context. This remains a
constant area of interst of mine.
Since my first university udergraduate research work I always had
an interest in combinig research and social intervention. In particular
I always mantained an awarness on the effect of the data collection
process on the social or institutional setting studied and I reflected
on the possible usability of such effects, trying also to implement
specific interventions. Recently I created the association, the Social
Research and Intervention Centre, together with some colleagues.
